About Crete Escape

Crete Escape is an independent travel resource dedicated to helping you discover Chania and the island around it, from the Venetian harbour and the lighthouse to Balos and the trails above Samaria, the Imbros gorge and the fortress at its heart, the old town below the Venetian walls, the vineyards at Archanes, the south coast, Rethymno and Sitia, and the day trips that make sense from Chania.

What we do

We create in-depth, regularly updated travel guides covering Chania, the villages around it and the coastline around it, day trips to Balos and Elafonissi, hikes through the Samaria gorge, the palm grove near Preveli and at Vai, Rethymno and Archanes, and practical planning advice — including getting here via Chania airport and the road network along the coast — for both first-time and repeat visitors. Every article is researched thoroughly and written to give you genuine, useful advice — not generic filler content.

How we earn
